Tahora sells polo pony for NZ$77,000

The sale in March 2025 was topped by the polo pony, Rikki, who sold to Australian interests.

Second top price was the half share of Lot 1 which sold for NZ$30,000. Tahora Sidekick Legacy 2 VG89 Max was the Intermediate Champion, and Grand Champion Holstein at the New Zealand Dairy Event in January.

Guest consigners included Glenalla and Snowfed Farms (Ashburton), and Josh and Chelsea Norton (Springoaks Holsteins).

Second top-priced Holstein was the five-year-old that finished second to the Senior Champion Holstein from the NZ Dairy Event, Tahora Pharo Abriana EX. She sold for NZ$26,000.

Overall Dairy Livestock Services reported that the sale averaged NZ$7453, with a breed breakdown average of:

56 Holsteins averaged NZ$7796,

17 Jerseys averaged NZ$5882,

1 Ayrshire sold for NZ$18,000

1 Brown Swiss sold for NZ$4500
